Huawei announced the nova 12 Ultra and nova 12 Pro today with physical variable aperture cameras and satellite connectivity. Alongside, the Chinese brand also unveiled the more affordable nova 12 and nova 12 Lite.
The Huawei nova 12 packs a 6.7″ 120Hz OLED display of 2,412×1,084 pixels with a fingerprint reader underneath for biometric authentication and a centered punch-hole for the 60MP ultrawide selfie camera (100˚ FOV). It also supports 1B colors and has a P3 wide color gamut.
Around the back, it features an elliptical camera island sporting an LED flash, a laser focus sensor, a 50MP primary camera (with RYYB color filter array), and an 8MP ultrawide camera (112˚ FOV).
The Huawei nova 12 runs HarmonyOS 4 out of the box and has two storage options – 256GB and 512GB. Huawei hasn’t mentioned the nova 12’s processor on its website, but it’s said to be the Kirin 830 SoC.

The rest of the Huawei nova 12’s highlights include a 4,600 mAh battery with 100W charging, USB-C, and NFC. It also has a « bionic breathing liquid-cooling pulsating heat conduction » capability (machine translated from Chinese) advertised to improve heat dissipation by 60 times.
Compared to the Huawei nova 12, the nova 12 Lite has a slimmer profile (6.88mm vs. 6.98mm), less weight (168 g vs. 191 g.), smaller battery (4,500 mAh vs. 4,600 mAh), and slower charging (66W vs. 100W).
The nova 12 Lite also has the Snapdragon 778G at the helm and features a 50MP primary camera without an RYYB color filter array while flaunting a back panel with a different design.
The Huawei nova 12 and nova 12 Lite come in the same colors and storage options. The nova 12’s 256GB and 512GB versions are priced at CNY2,999 ($420/€380/INR34,915) and CNY3,399 ($475/€430/INR39,570), respectively, while the nova 12 Lite’s 256GB and 512GB models will cost you CNY2,499 ($350/€320/INR29,095) and CNY2,799 ($390/€355/INR32,585), respectively.
