Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi has today started teasing the upcoming Redmi K70E smartphone, which is now confirmed to arrive by the end of the month alongside the K70 and K70 Pro. As always, the K series is Redmi’s highest-end.
This time around, the K70E is confirmed to be powered by the just-unveiled MediaTek Dimensity 8300 SoC. The word comes straight from Redmi’s official teasers, so there’s no denying it. This isn’t any 8300, though, it’s the 8300-Ultra. What that « Ultra » stands for is, for now, anyone’s guess. Sometimes in such cases it’s little more than a branding exercise, other times there are slightly more substantive changes, time will tell.
Redmi K70E official teasers
We’ve previously seen the K70 in a benchmark with the same chipset, by the way. Redmi is playing up the K70E’s performance, revealing that a prototype scored 1,526,328 points in AnTuTu. Furthermore, after about an hour of gaming in « an open-world game » at 25 degrees Celsius, the phone was still managing 58.86 FPS. This one clearly seems to be positioned towards avid gamers who can’t afford Xiaomi’s flagship line.
This being 2023, the new phone can’t escape the AI scourge, and indeed there will be generative AI on board to help you with real-time closed captions as well as generating sentences and photos based on prompts.
